Firewire Question for Camcorders?

Would this firewire port work for my Dell Dimension 5100 desktop computer for transferring video from MiniDV tape to my computer for YouTube, etc.? If you have any additional comments about firewire and how to use it, that would be greatly appreciated. Here's the link:

You will also need some capture and editing software and this article will explain what to do after you have installed your firewire card. :-

The software being used is Ulead VideoStudio - you can download a free trial to see if it works for you from :-

~It will work, as long as you have an open PCI slot on your motherboard...Yes, that card should work in your desktop computer. Using firewire is a lot like using USB, the plugs are similar, but not exactly the same, only Firewire is much faster.

You should have some movie editing software that will include instructions on how to get the digital footage off the camera. In my experience you plug the camera in, and control it with the computer, extracting the segments that you want.As long as you have an available slot to install the firewire card you are good to go. Odds are the motherboard on your PC should have a slot available. All you'll need then is the proper firewire cable that will connect your camcorder to your PC. Firewire is really just a faster way of transferring data/video than standard USB cables. Hope this helps.Guaranteed it will work! even the preowned ones.
All you need is an 'open' pci slot and firewire cable that matches both inputs (camcorder and card) since there are variants regarding this firewire cable.
What you need is a 4pins to 6pins firewire cable to connect both ends. 4pins to camcorder and 6pins to the pci card.

And to be able to upload videos to your desktop, you will need a capture or editing software.

Thumbs Up!!
