Is Sony a reliable brand for DVD-Rs?

Just looking to burn some pictures on them. I was thinking of getting Memorex but came across a better deal for Sony. Is the quality of the two similar?I think sony makes really fine electronics, but some of their recording media is not great. I wouldn't completely trust their red and black miniDV tapes, and I would look elsewhere for DVD-R discs. I burn about 1200-2000 discs per year and I've always had the best luck with Verbatim discs - the ones with plain white faces that come in packs of 100.
More importantly than the disc brand, is your burning speed. If you choose a fast burning speed 8x, 16x, etc. you are at greater risk of making an unreliable DVD disc. Use the 2x burn speed. It will take longer, but the disc data will be more reliable. It doesnt matter what brand. You could us the cheapest brand name in the world and it could be the same or better than Sony or Memorex.

If the pictures are very important buy several different brands and make multiple copies, because one brand could fail just as easy as another.I've used Sony for a long time, and they've always worked better than any other brand.... for me at leastI've had good results using Imation and Verbatim DVD-Rs. I haven't tried Sony media yet but this site claims that they are a 1st class media brand.
