Ilford for B&W?

Just bought a bunch of roles of this for some B&W shooting was told it was great for this type of shooting. Anyone use this film pros cons?Which Ilford film did you buy?

I've been happy with Ilford XP2 Super 400 which is C-41 compatible.

A Yellow filter will enhance contrast.

A Red filter will darken a blue sky. It will also lighten red objects in your image and darken green foliage.

A Green filter will lighten green foliage and darken red objects. The yellow filter can add a little to the contrast, but usually it is not necessary.

Only you can determine which film type and brand is best suited to your style of photogaphy.

I use a few different kinds of film for different reasons. I use Kodak IR, 3200 ISO, Tri-X and T-Max films and FujiFilm ACROS 100 ISO.Just so you understand- when film is C-41 compatible, it develops in color chemistry and any one hour lab can develop and print the images. It will not develop in the traditional home darkroom with black and white chemicals- for that you need Trix-X, T-Max or any other "real" black and white film. This film is probably better than it was just a few years ago, but I have never been impressed with the look of black and white from C-41.
