Photo editing program?

Looking for a photo editing program. Photoshop is to my understanding the best, however I am looking for something FREE... basically I'm looking to turn my color photos into black and white.. simply stuff like this as I have no real clue on how to do anything else.

Please include the address if possible, thanks a millionI love Picasa and it's free. You can turn your photos Black and White, Sepia, negative, watercolor etc and you can crop your photos today and go back three months later and go back to the original photo which is great.

Try it and if you don't like it, it is easy to uninstall without having to worry about extra files staying on your computer.

Here is the link and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have.google has picasamytheme.com --- yes. it's free and I've used it A LOT.Photoshop is GREAT but expensive. There's a freeware program called GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) that does about all Photoshop does but you can download it for free. Get it at http://gimp.org. You can also download tutorials there.ooooo this is 1 i use it all the time it is great! and FREE!

I just got lucky recently.
I bought older element 5.0 new for $30 at a superstore it was formerly $99
It works great & is easy to use.I also got lucky recently, I got Adobe Creative suite Design Pro and Web pro, and Adobe Photoshop lightroom.

All for free!

That's over $4000 worth of free stuff, because I shoot Pentax and use Macintosh I was asked to do some trials and then I get to keep the software!
